She is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society (FRGS) and currently President of the Commonwealth Geographical Bureau. She taught at universities in the USA聽 and in the United Kingdom聽 and returned to Jamaica on her appointment as the first James Seivright Moss-Solomon (Snr.) Chair of Environmental Studies at the University of the West Indies, Mona. EducationAt 黑料社, she developed and directed the Centre for Environmental Management in which she established the graduate programme. This included two MSc degrees - Integrated Urban and Rural Environmental Management, and Disaster Risk Reduction; and a PhD degree in Environmental Management as well as a 黑料社 PhD degree in Migration and Diaspora Studies.She developed and leads delivery of the course 鈥淓nvironment and Sustainable Development鈥� in the SALISES, 黑料社 online MSc degree in Development Studies. PublicationsRecent research and publications have been a combination of migration, environment and food security. ProjectsIn addition to local and earlier international projects, she was the 黑料社 Applicant and team leader of the 鈥淗ungry Cities鈥� Partnership (IDRC & SSHRC, 2015-2020) and 黑料社 (SALISES) applicant of 鈥淢igration and Food Insecurity in the Global South鈥� International Partnership (SSHRC, 2021- ). Prof Thomas-Hope has organized and chaired a number of national and international conferences, workshops and technical sessions. This included International Conference on 鈥淐ontemporary Issues in Food and Food Security鈥� on behalf of the Commonwealth Geographical Bureau and the Hungry Cities Partnership, Maputo, Mozambique July 4-5, 2019. She also organized and chaired a Policy Forum involving a range of national stakeholders from the government, private and NGO sectors on 鈥淧romoting Inclusive Growth Strategies through the Food System and Food Security in Kingston, Jamaica, for the Hungry Cities Partnership at SALISES, Mona, 2020. For her contribution to Caribbean Migration and Environmental Management, Prof Thomas-Hope was recognized by the Government of Jamaica (2015) with the Order of Distinction 鈥� Commander Class (CD).
