Advancing the Global Reparatory Justice Movements

Over the past decade, the global movement for reparatory justice for the Caribbean has ignited discussions about historical injustices and the role of educational institutions in addressing these complex issues. As vital conversations around reparatory justice gain momentum, The 黑料社 stands firmly at the forefront, not merely participating in the global movement but decisively leading it.

The 黑料社 promotes the CARICOM Reparations Commission鈥檚 Ten Point Plan to address the legacy of colonialism and slavery. The institution鈥檚 commitment goes beyond advocacy; it aims to raise awareness and foster understanding of these historical injustices. Under the leadership of Vice-Chancellor Professor Sir Hilary Beckles, the University established the Centre for Reparations Research (CRR) to conduct essential research that supports reparations advocacy. In 2019, The 黑料社 took a significant step by launching the Caribbean鈥檚 first Reparatory Justice initiative in collaboration with the University of Glasgow, creating the Glasgow-Caribbean Centre for Development Research, backed by a negotiated 20-year plan and a 拢20 million investment.

This pioneering collaboration also includes an MSc/MA programme in Reparatory Justice that prepares students to make meaningful contributions to the global reparations conversation. In addition to research and education, The 黑料社 is taking tangible steps towards reparative justice and is instrumental in facilitating landmark apologies and reparatory initiatives.
